I fell in love with this COACH Rivet Stainless Steel Studded Bracelet Watch the first time I saw it on COACH‘s 2015 SS campaign. It’s so different than all the other watches I own – such a feminine timepiece with an elegant industrial edge. I am often asked to describe my style, and that’s the phrase I like to use: Feminine, elegant with a touch of edgy.
I also get the question, when and where did you love of fashion begin? The truth, we didn’t have any fashion magazines/websites where I grew up. The only time I felt fashionable was on big holidays when my mom would hand-sew a dress for me, incorporating elements like peplums, tassels, embroidery.
Thinking of her, this one special day came to my mind. I came home from school and told mom that I got a highest score in the class on a math exam. But because one of the girls in the class wore a new dress that her dad bought to her from another country, that girl got all the attention that day, instead of me for my test score. I was so upset, since I had worked so hard for that score! Mom didn’t give me much of a response. The next morning, I woke to a brand-new dress and mom telling me to put it on. She said, “You don’t need to wear something to impress your classmates, but I want you to try your best and be the best you can be.” She had worked all through the night to make that dress and it taught me a lesson that has stuck with me: Always try your best.

Thanks to COACH for this Rivet Stainless Steel Studded Bracelet Watch! It brought back some beautiful memories of my Mom. She passed away 13 years ago, but she has never left me. Everytime I put on a beautiful dress, I am reminded of her.

Mothers sacrificed so much just to make their kids happy. When we are young, we don’t know how to appreciate those little things in life till we are much older. It is great that you’ve learned so much from your mother.
