Denim jeans started out humbly, as rugged pants for miners and workmen more than 150 years ago, and vintage denim pants are very valuable today — if you can find them! But denim jeans have come a long way since then, and now they are versatile essentials for fashion-conscious ladies. They are must-haves in any wardrobe, and this Spring the denim scene is buzzing with fresh styles and innovative designs, influenced by runway trends and fashion-forward stylists.
Whether you’re a fan of classic cuts or are ready to try something new, there’s a denim style for everyone to try. Let’s dive into six types of denim jeans that are trending this season, and I’ll share which style I’m particularly excited about for the future.

I haven’t yet owned a pair of barrel-leg jeans, but I’m intrigued by their unique shape. And there is one style I’m considering leaving behind in 2025: distressed denim jeans. Distressed jeans, with their edgy and rugged vibe, are hard to “dress up,” and don’t quite go with my evolving style preference for versatile items in my wardrobe. Wearing jeans with large or small holes just doesn’t resonate with me anymore, and I’m ready to choose more polished and refined denim options, jeans that I can easily dress down or up, depending on the occasion.
