Off to School: Casual Style with Colorblock Bag

HallieDaily Black and White with Colorblock Bag_7I like to dress up, but there are always some places I want to keep the dress code simple and casual, like going to my son’s school.  While the other parents are mostly in a jeans + Tee style, I don’t want to stand out as too “unique” and make Red Bear feel his mom is different than others. Bob keep telling me that’s OK for me to dress like I normally wear in my blog to the school, and our son would be proud of me…I don’t know, I am still not feeling comfortable about that.

Thumbs up for thisTwo Ticketsbag, the two tone color combination makes the simple outfit more fun and more “me”.  And more importantly, it is good for a little grocery shopping after the school with my son, too. (Maybe you haven’t heard, but the Los Angeles City Council recently outlawed grocery stores from giving you plastic bags to carry your food, so you have to bring your own bag.)  This bag is large enough to carry a few items home from the store.  If I have to shop for more than that, I bring the hubby to handle it.

  1. His mom is different from the others! Style wise, at least. He probably knows it, and should also know there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that 🙂
But I guess as long as it still feels like you, wear whatever you think is best. Being yourself can never be inappropriate (unless you’re a serial killer psychopath).

  2. I appreciate exactly where you’re coming from – I often dress down to take Mini-Me to and from school. The other parents at her school are more jeans-and-tee people, so I’d stick out like a sore thumb if I rolled up in a full-on ‘fashion’ look! 🙂

  3. Kids want conformity, not standing out; be it too frumpy or too fashion forward. I remember when I was growing up, I just wanted my mother to look like other mothers (she’s on the frumpy side of the scale). We don’t value being unique until we are full grown adults.

It’s great that you notice your son’s reaction, even if you can’t dress the usual fab way when you are among other parents. Although you are a wife and a mother, you are still a person first. If you enjoy paying attention to fashion and dress to please you creative side, you should keep doing it.

BTW, this outfit is simply yet so chic and fits you so well. I bet you still out-shine jeans-&-tee parents by a wide margin. 🙂

  4. 确实,穿衣服得体很重要!你的穿着总是让我很喜欢,一点小细节也能彰显不凡的品位!

  5. love your bracelet. which model is it? there are several similar ones on slane web site.

    thanks,

    jenny
