I heard that most areas of North America are already facing very cold weather. Unfortunately, the weather in Los Angeles is still pretty warm and it is making it very difficult and not fun to enjoy layering. I get many comments/emails regarding posting more “fall/winter” looks for inspiration for you guys experiencing the real colder weather . . . but it makes it very difficult for me to put on “cold weather gear” when it feels like a Summer outside most of the time! I was debating whether to post this look today, because it’s such not a winter/Fall related look.
So let me try to talk about something else instead of what I am wearing today then. It’s about shopping, it’s the holiday season, while the Black Friday and Cyber Monday are just around the corner, many people ask me what to buy and where.
As I get older, I have realized it is really is more about quality over quantity. Before I would just buy, buy, buy when pretty things were on sale, or when it’s “the last one” or “limited item” or something, but I wasn’t really concern about the quality, so I obviously just acquired a bunch of stuff that really wasn’t worth it. Now, I really scout for the perfect piece, bag, jacket, jewelry, shoes. I really do save money to splurge on the ‘right’ item because I know in the long run, I’ll have it for years to come. Quality pieces are investments in my wardrobe.
But, of course, in most of cases, we can’t shop what we like most because of other priorities, and that’s nothing wrong at all. Being smart is the key. Always look for the best deal, or coupon, honest reviews, and search for the best price — oh, and don’t forget to check the return policy at the same time! Buy something that your wardrobe NEEDS for years but not just for a couple of weeks, or even months.
I splurged a little . . . well, you must know that I scored this Proenza Schouler PS11 Tote Bag for a very good price (see the post here). I will be making a couple wish lists for this holiday season for sure, and then just need to wait for the best time to shop and the best price.
What is in your holiday shopping list? Please Share! I always like to hear from you!
