Happy Weekend, my dear friends!
I am still a little bit late in updating my NYFW looks and other outfit posts, but I am working hard on it, and for people who have written to me in the last couple days, please bear with me until I can reply your email!
Today I

1. Get a window seat on the air plane if you can. Some of the best money I spent on this trip was upgrading my seat to a window seat. I like it that I can shoot photos outside the window and post live on my socials if I need, and at the same time, I don’t need to be bothered if I want to take a nap or work on the blog.

2.Find a hotel that make you feel like home. I have to give special thanks to The Gregory Hotel and Under the Canopy company for kindly sponsoring my stay during my trip, and they specially decorated my room with some special patterns and beautiful colors. I really enjoyed the Zen life feeling in the Midtown of NYC. You can shop some of the Under the Canopy items in my room through Macy’s.

I have been to NYFW a few times before, and mostly I get annoyed by the hotel staff’s attitude; I understand that during the NYFW, there are a lot of crowds coming into the city, and it can be a lot of work. But when the hotel staff sees a small lady like me struggling to carry a lot of luggage without offering to help and pretending they don’t see you, that’s very annoying. In contrast, The Gregory Hotel’s staff service is outstanding! Not that everybody treats you like their own family/best friends, but they were very talented and accommodating to me. Special thanks to Jasmine who worked in the bar and those two doormen (I am so sorry I didn’t write your names down), who snapped these pictures for me around the hotel. Great photoshoot, I would say.

3. Eat classy, not trashy, like you own this city. In a recent post, I told you in my last NYFW experience, I ran around the city without stopping to treat myself to good meals, and often ate from the foodcart outside my hotel. I am still feeling bad about it! This time I said “No” to a lot of shows and parties, and instead took time to enjoy some really good meals with friends. One of the best meals I had during my trip was dining in the Molyvos (871 Seventh Avenue (between 55th & 56th Streets) New York, NY 10019). The best Greek food I ever had, with great service. If you have a chance to check them out, don’t forget to ask for their wine selection. It’s amazing!

4.A nicely decorated restaurant is a must visit when you need some good food/restaurant decor photos in your Instagram feed. When it comes to food, quality is priority for me. I like to eat in a nice environment, clean, not to crowded, with great service. I had lunch with a friend in this Fig & Olive restaurant in the Marketplace area in NY (420 West 13th Street Between 9th Ave. & Washington St. New York, NY 10014). We have Fig & Olive in LA, too, and the Shrimp and Salmon salad is my favorite, they taste the same and are great, both in the LA and NY areas. Thumbs up!

5.No problem if you don’t have a photographer with you, although I am thinking to bring one or hire one for me next time (send me an email if you are interested in working together?). Let’s say most bloggers, we see a lot of good photos and we shoot a lot, so I would say, no professional photographer? No problem, hang out with your blogger friends, so that you can shoot each other on the street — it’s fun and it’s really fun! Special thanks to my blogger friends Crystal (the left) and Kelly whom I met on the street for snapping photos for me.

6.Find a hair salon/make up artist/nail spa that close to you. And when I say “close to you”, that means really close, like downstairs from your hotel room. This time I tried the Caravan Stylist Studio, they are located in The Gregory Hotel where I stayed. I came in with wet/washed hair in the morning with my slippers on, and they did my make-up /hair and nail in 1.5 hours like magic. Convenience is the key!

7. Keep your phone ready and always on the “shoot” mode. Also, don’t forget your portable battery charger for your phone. I snapped these pictures from inside my taxi, and I love how these pictures brighten up my Instagram feed. Shoot when you have a chance, NYC is a beautiful city and every little corner is a nice photo shoot scene. Save some for some “latergram” or “throwback”, that’s a trick I think almost every blogger uses now.

8.Again, I got some beautiful sunset pictures on my way home from NYC to LAX. Thanks to the window seat — oh, and this time I didn’t need to pay extra for choosing a window seat. So I guess when you book your ticket, choose your seating preference and check-in earlier (I check-in online this time); it really seems to help.
That’s all for today. I hope you enjoy this post and found it helpful in some way. I thank you for visiting today, and wish you are enjoying your weekend.
enjoying delicious meals in NYC is a must! 🙂

Great post and very helpful tips indeed. Whether I’m travelling to our sister islands (Cayman Brac and Little Cayman) or whether to Europe, I prefer to sit by the window for the reasons you stated–you do not get interrupted! I attended and participated as a model in NYFW (2014) last year and the model part of it was just ‘happened-upon’ by a designer who saw me and told me that I HAD TO be in his show. How RANDOM, EXCITING and SCARY all at once……I intend to attend next year (2016) for sure but my question is, HOW do you get a hotel to sponsor your stay? I need to know because hotels in NY are no little penny.
Thank you!
照片拍得都很棒啊!酒店好温馨,没看文字时还以为是你家。
Great points and beautiful pics:)
