“Motherhood is the greatest thing and the hardest thing.”

When Teleflora told me about their “One Tough Mother” Campaign, that’s the first thing that came to my mind.

“Am I a tough Mother?” I think I am. From the day Red Bear was born until now, almost 8 years, we have never left him with a babysitter. Even when he was newborn and tiny, and we had no family in the area to help watch him, and 2 rescue dogs and 4 rescue cats at our house, both Bob and I were determined not to hire any stranger to watch him, but shared the work to take care of him ourselves. And in those days, I did not drive. Red Bear went everywhere I went, grocery shopping or bathroom (no, I am not joking!). He would cry if I went to the bathroom without letting him know back then, lol –he was kind of a weird “mommy’s boy” at that time. Even our neighbor’s parrot learned to yell, “Mom,” after hearing Red Bear’s calling for me all the time.

Time flies! Red Bear has been growing so fast, and he is doing so well in his school. He has become one of the most popular/ well-known students in his school, and he also earned an “Outstanding in All Subjects” Achievement Award last term. We are so happy and proud to raise Red Bear as a very happy and good kid.

All these years were not easy for me or any Mom! I’ve learned it takes strength, courage, love, determination, and sacrifice. Sometimes when he was young, I felt anxiety and sleeplessness during the night, but I have learned to relax and be happy, day by day, as my confidence that I can “do the job” of being a Mom has grown. I know I’m not the only “tough mother,” and I’ve learned to appreciate all the other “tough mothers” of the world — my mom, my grandmother, and you, who is reading this. You are one “tough Mother,” too, aren’t you?

Mother’s Day (May 8th) is coming! What are you going to celebrate it? Will you be able to be with your mom, or maybe even plan to take mom to a brunch or dinner? Teleflora makes it easy to give thanks for the strength and love it takes to be a mom with a NEW collection of Mother’s Day bouquets. There are so many beautiful floral bouquets available now at Teleflora.com.  I love flowers; I always have, and always will. Same for your Mom, I’ll bet.

Thank you to Teleflora for sending their beautiful Garden Pitcher bouquet and kindly collaborating with me and sponsoring this post. As always, all opinions are honestly my own.

  1. Oh yes, being a mom is one of the most beautiful and rewarding “roles” that were given to us women but it’s also one of the most demanding and toughest ones… I have my daughter and I’m so proud of her and a little lady that she has grown to be. I can’t wait for the Mother’s Day to come because it’s always such a special day when I “tap” myself on the shoulder for all of the hard and good work that I’ve done as well as the day to completely dedicate myself to my daughter and just do whatever we feel like wherever we feel like. 🙂
