Last weekend, we were invited for a family “getaway weekend” to stay at the Mission Inn Hotel & Spa , in Riverside, just a little over an hour’s drive away from Los Angeles. While we were there, I was invited to attend their “Wedding Showcase” on Sunday.

The Mission Inn is one of the truly historic hotels in California — its very first guests were in 1876! It was built in breath-taking Spanish Mission-style architecture, and the building has the romantic feel and enchantment of Europe, with a design created by some of California’s most famous architects. It has a rich history of hosting many American Presidents and other celebrities over the years. The Mission Inn covers an entire city block, and it has a spa (which I loved!) and more restaurants within it than we could sample in one weekend. I enjoyed the decor and elegant furniture, which preserves the look and feel of its heritage and history. It seems like the historic heart of Riverside was built up around the Mission Inn — so many interesting shops, cafes, and other sights are clustered around it, within an easy walk. That was good for us, because it rained through our stay, and we wanted to stay close and mostly relax — which we did!

The Mission Inn is a very popular place for weddings (among many other famous people, President Richard Nixon married Pat there, and Ronald and Nancy Reagan honeymooned there), and on Sunday they had a “Wedding Showcase” that let me explore the different venues in the hotel for weddings and receptions,(there are several!) and to look at exhibits from all kinds of wedding vendors — table settings, gowns, flowers, photographers, cakes and cupcakes, wedding planners — everything I could imagine for a wedding. I enjoyed talking to many of the vendors, and sampling some beautiful and delicious cakes.

It rained the whole time we were there, and that made the experience more mysterious and unforgettable. We plan to return to explore more around Riverside some day, too.
What I wore:
Outfit 1: A.W.A.K.E. Top & Skirt // Chanel Shoes // Mark Cross Bag (also like this red color) // Rebecca de Ravenel Earrings (similar style here)
Outfit 2: Carven Coat (old) // Zara Jeans (similar style here)// Shelly London Loafers // Mark Cross Bag (also like this tote)
Absolute amazing beautiful vintage architecture and gorgeous outfits. What a fabulous event with so many beautiful things around and delightful moments captured. 🙂
