Happy New Year 2020, Everyone!
While I enjoy reading many of my blogger friends writing about 2019 in review, I personally am not too good writing reviews like that. In fact, when I worked in some management jobs, writing reviews and summary reports was always the part I disliked. Oh, well, to be honest, I never liked writing reports, plans, etc. I always wanted to be doing something, not writing about it, and then I worked fast and efficiently and moved forward. My bosses knew that and appreciated it.
So, instead of looking back at 2019, today this conversation will look forward to my new 2020 fitness plan. I used to try so hard in many different classes in the gym; I compared myself to many other people in the same class; I liked to see myself getting in the shape/line I want; and I worked harder after that. Until the end of last year, when I hurt my lower back while exercising.
I tried to find some fitness inspiration before I wrote this post. When I saw many amazing posts, especially those with before and after photos, I told myself, “I maybe can follow this routine, but I might hurt myself again.”
I don’t want to say I will slow down or get lazy with my fitness plan — I won’t. But I want to make my fitness routine to achieve a happy and healthy life style. Forget about all the packs, lines, shapes, this year I will only compete with myself and listen to my body. So, even though I am not good at writing plans, but I will share some today:
1. Do 10 minutes of yoga before going to bed and right after I get out of bed, stretching more, since I do work at my computer a lot!
2. When in the gym, focus on my posture and try to adjust the pace by listen to my body.
3. Buy more gym wear outfits. Ha-ha! I said that for a reason! I go to the gym 4-5 times a week, and I feel many gym clothes lose their feel and fit after many washes, and to me it’s very distracting when my outfit doesn’t fit well or looks loose during exercise.
4. No judgment, but consistency. A number on the scale is not the thing that should make me go back to the gym the next day or not. The important thing is to make visiting the gym the thing I want to do and am happy to do.
5. Less coffee, less alcohol. I say that every year, but I want to repeat and remind myself every year — no second glass of wine after the first one!
What’s your fitness story? I would like to listen to yours as well!
