Looking for fresh Fall outfit ideas? Sharing 10 Fall Looks with creative layering, mixed prints, rich colors, scarves, jackets and unexpected styling ideas to inspire your wardrobe.
Fall always makes me excited to get dressed again.
Maybe it’s the layers. Maybe it’s all the beautiful colors and textures. Or maybe it’s finally having an excuse to pull out the jackets, knits and scarves that have been waiting patiently in my closet.
This year, though, I’m less interested in creating the “perfect” fall outfit and more interested in having fun with what I already own.
Stripes with florals? Yes.
Leopard with red? Absolutely.
A sweater tied somewhere unexpected? Even better.
Here are 10 Fall outfit ideas and a few of the styling tricks I’ve been playing with lately.
1. Mix Your Prints — They Don’t Have to Match
I used to think that when an outfit already had one statement print, everything else needed to be quiet.
Not anymore.
For this look, I layered an embroidered brown sweater vest over a striped top, then added leopard around the waist. There are technically three different patterns happening, but the warm brown tones connect everything.
Styling tip: When mixing prints, look for one color that appears throughout the outfit. It helps completely different patterns feel intentional.

2. Treat Leopard Like a Neutral
I will forever stand by this one: leopard is a neutral.
Here I layered it over an olive utility jacket with a bright red sweater underneath. The red gives the whole outfit energy while the leopard adds texture and personality.
If you’re nervous about mixing prints, leopard is actually an easy place to start. Try it with denim, stripes, army green, camel or red.

3. Bring Your Romantic Pieces Into Fall
Who says the pretty summer pieces have to disappear when fall arrives?
I paired this sheer embroidered blouse with floral pants and fringe detailing, then added that bright green bag because sometimes an outfit just needs a little surprise.
I love the contrast between something romantic and something bold.
This is also one of my favorite tricks for transitional fall dressing when the weather still feels like summer but mentally you’ve already moved on to October.

4. Don’t Be Afraid of Color
Red jacket. Striped pants. Yellow knit.
Too much?
Maybe.
But I love it.
Fall fashion doesn’t have to be brown, beige and black. Rich reds, mustard yellow, olive, burgundy and green look especially beautiful together this time of year.
The easiest way to experiment is to start with two colors you know work together and then add one unexpected shade.
Sometimes that third color is what makes the outfit.

5. Mix Feminine Pieces With Relaxed Ones
I love the combination of the floral top and feather trim with these relaxed silky pants. Adding the green cardigan gives the look another rich fall color without making it feel too dressed up.
And then there is the little structured bag.
I always love that contrast: soft + structured, feminine + relaxed.
Those opposites are often what make an outfit interesting.

6. Try an Unexpected Layer Around Your Waist
This argyle knit became one of my favorite styling pieces.
Instead of simply wearing it as a sweater, I tied it around my waist over a black skirt and cropped cardigan. The beret adds another slightly preppy element, but the little bit of skin keeps everything from feeling too traditional.
Sometimes the best styling idea is simply wearing something in a way it wasn’t necessarily intended to be worn.

7. Repeat a Piece, Change the Mood
Here is that same argyle knit again — but now the outfit feels completely different.
I layered it under a sculptural camel jacket with black cropped pants. Suddenly something that felt playful and preppy in the previous outfit looks much more modern.
This is exactly why I love shopping my own closet.
Before deciding you need something new, ask yourself:
How else can I wear this?

8. Play With Proportions
For another take on the argyle layer, I paired it with a pinstriped blazer and relaxed brown pants.
The slightly longer blazer, rolled pants and knit peeking out underneath create a completely different proportion from the previous two outfits.
One little styling piece. Three completely different looks.
That is the kind of wardrobe math I like.

9. Sometimes Simple Is Best
And after all that print mixing and layering…sometimes I just want an easy outfit.
Denim jacket. Neutral pants. Scarf. Clogs.
Done.
But even a simple outfit can feel special with one thoughtful detail. Here, the scarf brings color and pattern close to the face while the shoes give the relaxed pieces a little more personality.
This is the kind of casual fall outfit I could happily wear all day.

10. Go back to the Classics
And after all that print mixing and layering…sometimes I crave something lean and classic.
A crisp white button-down, grey jeans, a textured jacket and tall black boots — simple pieces, but together they feel polished and very Fall.
A especially love wearing the jacket draped over the shoulders, It gives an otherwise classic outfit that effortless, slightly undone feeling I always like.
And the black and brown bag? Another reminder that yes, you absolutely can mix black and brown.
This is the kind of Fall outfit that works year after year without feeling boring.
Style tip: When you are wearing mostly neutrals, mix different textures and shades instead of adding more color. It gives a simple outfit much more depth.

My Fall Styling Rule? There Really Isn’t One.
If there is one thing I’m taking into this season, it’s this:
Your clothes don’t always have to match. They just have to feel like you.
Mix the stripes with the florals.
Wear the leopard.
Add the scarf.
Tie the sweater somewhere unexpected.
And definitely wear the color.
Fashion should be fun, and sometimes the outfits that shouldn’t work on paper end up being the ones we love the most.
