California Family Weekend Getaway: Great Wolf Lodge in Anaheim

If you travel to Southern California or if you are California resident and looking for a weekend getaway idea, may we suggest you check out the Great Wolf Lodge in Anaheim?

Last month we were invited by the Great Wolf Lodge to spend a fun weekend there, and we really enjoyed ourselves!

Great Wolf Lodge is quite a place — it’s a hotel, with a waterpark, electronic games arcade, virtual reality thrill ride, mini golf, shops, and several restaurants — all under one roof! Yep, we parked our car, and didn’t have to go outside at all to enjoy all the fun attractions for the three days we were there. Based on our stay, Great Wolf Lodge is a good place for a getaway with family.

Red Bear really was excited about the waterpark as we drove there, since his favorite recreation is swimming. One nice thing for us, Great Wolf Lodge is pretty close to L.A., about an hour drive from our home. Our room was nice and roomy, and decorated to amuse children.

First thing we did after check in was to look at the waterpark feature. The pools were clear and clean and the water was comfortably warm. There are a lot of different features there, like a wave pool, a fantastic waterslide construction, a “lazy river” ride, and one wild ride Red B ear loved, sliding down inside a twisting, turning tube. There are more water play features than I mentioned, but those were the ones that we loved and stayed in the most. Plenty of good, safe water fun for children and adults alike — there were plenty of adults joining in the fun, including my husband and me!

Outside the waterpark, there were many other fun activities to keep us busy for two full days, and I don’t think we tried everything even then. Some of the non-water activities include dance party, a very addictive magic quest, electronic games in an arcade, climbing wall, mini golf, bowling, and a choice of virtual reality thrill rides in which you have to fend off various dangers, like attacking monsters in the ride we chose.

Before we left, the Great Wolf Lodge had started to put up many Halloween decorations, so if you are looking for a Halloween weekend family getaway or thinking of a kid’s birthday idea, give them a try.

I learned from their website about their Hallowe’en special programs: Families staying at Great Wolf Lodge will have an “unboolievable” time celebrating the season as Howl-O-Ween returns with newly enhanced activities October 1 – 31, 2017. From the popular Trick-or-Treat trail and the Howl-O-Ween House to Monster Bash Dance Parties and more, Howl-O-Ween will get the whole family in the spirit.

Thanks to Great Wolf Lodge for working with us on this post.
