Here I am today, not wearing a dress or skirt, and not many bright colors in today’s outfit — is that still Hallie? — ha-ha . . . Yes, of course.
I used to not like to wearing shorts:
1. I don’t like how my legs look.
2. I am a “mosquitos lover” (that is, mosquitos love me) and they bite me AT LEAST 2-3 times more than people around me.
But, I changed, after the 2020 pandemic, when wearing shorts around the house made me realize: shorts are good for a summer outfit, and they are so comfortable and convenient in many occasions.
When I wear shorts this summer, I want to wear them in more classy ways, and here is how I do it.
1. Choose shorts that are not too short, not too tight, and the material has to be thick enough, with big pockets, so they won’t lose shape or slip down when I put my phone or other important items in the pocket. Here I am wearing navy shorts by J.Crew — my favorite shorts so far! I am also thinking of getting these shorts in the color “honey brown”.
2. To keep the shorts look classic, I like to pair a collared shirt on top; a white button-down shirt is always a risk-free and classy choice. Another of my favorite pairings is a polo shirt, like this J.Crew striped collared shirt I just got lately; the fabric is so soft and the shirt fits very well. To stay “not too cold” in any air-conditioned room or car, I always bring a blazer or cardigan with me; this striped blazer I am wearing today is also from J.Crew — it’s a great Summer blazer, made of cotton, but not easily wrinkled at all, the same style has sold out, and I am also thinking about to get this light weight blazer.
3. When doing a classy or elegant style, a good hat always helps to add that flavor (not to mention protecting the face from the sun). I love a straw boater hat most times, but today I tried a fabric foldable hat — I like this shape so much, and can’t wait to pack it for my next travel!
4. I usually prefer to wear closed-toe shoes with some heel to lengthen the look of my legs, but some sandals or sneakers will look good with summer shorts, too; it depends on the style and color. I won’t suggest flip-flops, but if you are that type of “cool kid,” I am jealous and I always admire those people who look so good with flip-flops.
