Only 11 days until Lunar New Year! We also call it Chinese New Year, or CNY. Different than most major holidays around the world, Lunar New Year is a holiday that we normally celebrate for an entire week. I remember when I was a child, my Mom side of the family was very big, and mostly living in the same city. We normally had a big family feast gathering on CNY Eve, then we went to visit some of our related families and celebrate with them on different days.
Since the city where I lived never had snow, not many houses had heaters, so we mostly would wear warm and heavy clothes, even when staying indoors having dinner. Life is different now in China and most people have heaters. Now dressing up for CNY has become fancier, but red and gold are still the main colors people wear during the New Year celebration.
