One night last week, we went to Red Bear’s school together for the “Back to School Night” event. It was a dinner where everyone bought tickets to donate to help the school build up a fund for buying all the things the school needs during the year.
This is what I wore for the night — it was an outdoor picnic-style event, and there were many different kinds of parents; they are come from different countries and cultures, as you might expect in America, and especially in California, which is such an international melting pot. My dress code was: Easy, Optimistic, not giddy, Put-together, not fussy, Tasteful, not precious”.
I carried my new colorful BKYO clutch, it’s made from carefully chosen African Wax fabrics, 100% locally sourced cowhide leather — it’s very well made with little price point ( retail price under $80). Matched it with a basic black top and a colorful Mexican print midi skirt that was gifted by a friend who returned back from a vacation in Mexico. I love how I looked and felt that night, and got so many compliments. It’s just a perfect choice for a special event.

I love, love, love ethnic print and fabric. I can’t pass one without wanting to take it home. I bought a boho bag in Whitby England at a OxFam thrift shop that’s got African and Latin weaving and make of wool thread; all for $6. 🙂
