Your Evening Wear Guide

I go out many times for events in Southern California (and elsewhere sometimes).  You know, when you socialize around during an event, you mostly start a conversation with people around you with some comment like, ” I like your skirt,” or, “I like your bag,”  or, “Beautiful shoes,” etc.  Trust me, fashion comments always work when you want to break the ice and make new friends!

What L.A. people wear for evening events, though, really depends on where and what the event is.  Little black dresses are always popular and “safe” choices.  I often admire people who can style nice jeans very well for night time events, too!

What are my ideas to stand out in a crowd during events, without being too “loud”?  Keep reading and I will tell you more.

1.First, start with a color that is in your comfort zone. Beside black and white, what colors do you feel comfortable to wear on a night out?

Next, add a “stand-out” color to pair with your comfort zone color.  Metallic is a good element, especially this Fall/Winter, if you like cheerful “bling bling” glamour; it’s very on trend now, and seems to be growing.  Or, choose some bright color with some shine to it. Today I pair with a orange skirt in faille, I like the materiel, not too heavy, not too sheer, and it brings a touch of luxe to the outfit.

I am not a heavy jewelry person, and mostly I just like to wear earrings.  Oscar de La Renta sure knows how to make their earrings stand out, while remaining elegant and feminine.  Like this pair of pearl earrings I am wearing today.

SHOP JEWELRY FOR EVENING WEAR

I wouldn’t recommend a big or giant tote for evening wear — to me, it would look out of place, even weird!  Mini bags or clutches are so much more appropriate.  Satin is a magic fabric for evening wear; the fabric grabs a lot of attention under the room lights when you out for an evening.  Try it, and you will see!
