Recently I have been running to a lot of business meetings, so many projects going on, and I can’t wait to share with you all when the time right — soon, I hope! At the same time, I realized my wardrobe needed to be refreshed with some new business wear items. As you know, most of my outfits lately have been about florals, lace, and pink . . . maybe a little girly for serious business talks.
So I’ve been searching for some business/workwear brands, and the M.M Lafleur brand came onto my radar. It’s a label that offers great personal styling. After checking out their website, I set up an appointment with them in their L.A pop up (Address: 8500 Beverly Blvd., Beverly Center, 7th Floor, near Bloomingdales). I filled out some information online: height, size preference, etc. With that info, one of their in-store stylists could pick out some outfits and pieces for me to try on during my appointment, even before I got there. What a great concept!
Last week, my husband and I made a trip to my appointment with them, and it was so nice to be greeted by my stylist, Lauren, and to see a rack of clothes she had already selected for me to start with, based on the info I provided ahead of time. First, I tried on is this The Candice Dress—in the color turmeric. You know, the color is very spring-y, and I especially love how the wide neckline frames the face for an elegant statement. And I also love the covered buttons and inner snaps; together they make for a secure closure, so that you don’t need to worry that something might “pop out” between all the buttons when you sit or bend!

I like linen for spring and summer wear. I know some of my friends are not fans of linen because it wrinkles kind of easily. But when choosing linen, try to choose better quality linen. like the dress I am wearing — it is made from a linen blend fabric that has some stretch in it. It’s very breathable, looks decent without wrinkling, and it also can be hand-washed, too! I think that modern blends, natural fabric with some man-made fibers, can offer the best of both worlds, a breathable and natural look, but wrinkle-free and low-maintenance. (P.S. The dress doesn’t come with the belt; my husband said it looks great with or without the belt . . . oh, well, sorry we didn’t take pictures without the belt, for you to compare!)

I think simple classic tops should always be available in our wardrobe. They don’t need to be white button-downs, but they need to be versatile, to wear with your pants, skirts, or even jeans! I was told the fabric of this top won’t absorb smells, so you can wear your piece multiple times before tossing it in the washing machine. Sounds like it might be perfect for vacation wear, among other uses for we busy girls.

A well-fitting, flattering dress with big pockets always gets me. This Etsuko Dress comes in a pretty green shade, the fit is very pretty, and I can tell why it’s one of the best-selling in the store. The same style also comes in many other colors. My personal favorite color (and my husband’s, too) is this dark green.

Last, but not least, when I saw this Olivia jacket online, I know I had to try it in the store. I fell in love with it the first moment I saw it in the mirror, then I matched it with the Clooney pants, and added the Crossover belt for a sleek and modern look. The jacket is also good to wear without the belt, and it’s also good for travel — I love it!

At the end, I decided to take this Olivia Jacket and these Clooney pants with me. They go together beautifully, and they also will look good when I mix and match them with other items. Like the M.M Lafleur stylist told me — ” You can wear the jacket with a pair of jeans and heels for a French look, and wear a black silk cami with these pants for a glam night look,” and I couldn’t have agree with that more. Like I said . . . versatile.

We give thanks to M.M Lafleur for kindly sponsoring this post. But, as always, all the words and opinions in this post are our honest review. We loved our experience in their L..A. pop up, and we are loving all the styles we tried on, and can’t wait to try on more! We also have to thanks to Lauren (in the picture with me), who is the manager in the store, and also the stylist who picked out all the outfits for me and gave me all her sincere advice and professional styling ideas. So nice to work with a stylist who “gets me.”
