Whenever I see a lady wearing her simple yet classic LBD or LWD with just the right amount of attitude, I always want to come forward to give her a compliment. In my mind, I imagine that lady is a nice person with great taste.
If you have followed my blog and social media for a while, you know I am mostly a colorful style lover; I like beautiful patterns, too. Between mini, midi and maxi, I almost always go with a midi dress/skirt.
That moment when I laid eyes on this cotton midi dress, I was hooked. And when I put it on, it was instant love: the fit is very flattering, the cotton fabric is stretchable, not too thick nor thin, the fit-and-flare silhouette is so classic, and it fits me like a glove. Since the material is thick enough, I actually don’t need to wear a bra. But I did use this sticky backless bra for a subtle lift, and a more flattering look.
I feel I can easily dress this style up and down.
Here in the black dress look, I paired my classic Chanel top-handle Kelly bag and a pair of Manolo Blahniks; one of my followers commented it reminds her of Audrey Hepburn, and I told her Audrey Hepburn is my style icon. I would like to put on a boater hat and a pair of flip flop heels for a beach getaway. (I just bought this pair of flip flop heels — they are so sexy and the “barely there” style will make every summer dress stand out.)
When styling the beige color of this dress, I went for a pair of platform sandals and an oversized straw bag. I like to call this a garden natural look. I also can’t wait for the return of cooler weather, when I can wear this dress with a pair of brown loafers, and will have a cashmere sweater lay on my shoulders or tie with this silk scarf. And, yes, adding a denim jacket or a linen blazer will be good idea to transition in the early Fall, too.
