We’ve been pretty busy working around our home during the quarantine time. One of the projects we have completed so far is to refresh some of our outdoor furniture.
We bought these wooden chair and table sets (2 sets of them!) 8 years ago, and they have been outside in the elements of heat, rain, and wind since then.
When we first bought them, we painted them with waterproof oil, and I think that helped them to last so long. But over the years, they got some damage from their hard outdoor lives, like a lot of outdoor furniture does.
I was going to just get rid of them and buy some new stuff for our big yard, but my husband convinced me to give them a new life, with some cleaning and fresh paint.
So I took his advice, since we are staying at home all the time, and with not enough other things to do.
1. We first cleaned these table and chairs, then sanded them smooth (see below picture 1).
2. Then we painted them in white — many coats! (See below picture 2).
And, ta-da! We got ourselves two “new” sets of patio tea or wine tables. They look nice, and they are light and easy to move around.
I decided to put one set in a quiet garden area between our rear fence and the playhouse / swingset we built for Red Bear many years ago. I like it that I can enjoy some lovely tea or wine time while watching Red Bear playing on his swing.
I also just ordered these cushions for these chairs, and I will show you when they arrive, but I think, right now, they look pretty good already! What do you think?
