How To Find the Perfect Everyday Flats — And I Am Giving Away A Pair!

What I Wore:

Taryn Rose Shoes // Faux Fur Coat // Beret // Bag // Sunglasses // Knit Sweater Dress

This post is collaboration with Taryn Rose.

I rarely wear flats in what I show on my blog, but in real life around the house and the neighborhood, doing my everyday things, I live with flats. I have so many flats, but the ones I wear most often have these elements: they are soft, comfortable, match my outfit easily, and don’t make my legs look short. (And that’s why we love heels when we go out, right?)

So, how to choose a pair of perfect flats? Let me tell you.

1. Price.

I have flats in all the price ranges. I have learned that after one season or so, I usually end up donating my “High Street” flat to a charity store; but my designer flats normally last several seasons — and sometimes, in the end, I get some money back by consigning them to a secondhand fashion store. So, my suggestion: when you can afford it, try to buy your flats from a brand with a good reputation for comfort and quality — and style, of course. Taryn Rose is one of them. When they approached me in the beginning, I didn’t know too much of them, but I already knew that they make comfy shoes!

2. Material.

I always prefer suede shoes , because they are soft. My husband is always concerned about my choice of suede, saying things like, “They get dirty easily, and they are easily ruined by water.”
But I respond with my facts and logic, “We don’t really have rain in L.A., and most of the places in LA are clean, and, anyway, most of time we are driving!” In the end, my feet, my rules. But if suede is not your thing, then just choose soft leather. I found that sometimes regular leather flats will need more time to “break in” and become soft and comfy. They might hurt the feet during the “break in” period, and we don’t want that!

3. Practical & comfortable

I have to mention about being a petite, we often wear shoes to make us look taller and make our legs look longer. But we also love/need flats. Trust me, wearing pointed toe flats will make your legs look longer compared with round-toe flats. Even my sister knows that, and she is not even a fashionista. Ha-ha! I also understand people with wide toes might think pointed toe shoes hurt . . . but not necessarily, it really depends on the designer and the design. These Taryn Rose flats called the “Faye” I am wearing today felt so comfy right from the first time I wore them . . . please allow me to describe my feeling as — they feel like I am wearing slippers. And chic ones.

I also wore them today with a midi dress and out for brunch with my family; I will show you the look in a couple days.

I know how hard it is to find a good pair of flats; especially with so many on the market nowadays. I am so happy to find these Taryn Rose Flats — will you give them a try?
