Recently I have gone out to a lot of events and meetings (for some “Girl’s things,” is what I always tell Red Bear), and, at some point, I usually get asked, “What’s your favorite skin care brand,” or, What beauty or skincare products have you liked lately?” Those seem to the universal concerns of women!
It takes a while to answer, because I have so many samples at home — they almost occupy my whole bathroom, from the cabinet to the floor, and some nights I pick this product, some days I use that one. I know, that approach might not be best for my skin, and I should try to be more consistent and really study which products give me the best results, and which don’t really seem to work.
So, lately I have been trying to control myself and follow a more fixed routine, and keep track of what I like. Based on that “scientific method,” here is what I have been using most recently:

Perricone MD : Brightening Eye Cream : I have heard about Perricone many times before, but didn’t really have a chance to try their products out. But recently I tried on this brightening eye cream, and immediately loved it. “It helps diminish the appearance of dark circles, fine lines, and puffiness. The cream instantly brightens with light-reflecting pearls”. Everything sounds good! Right?

Garnier: Clearly Brighter / Dark Spot Corrector: It’s supposed to reduce the look of years of sun damage & brighten skin — that’s really what I wish when living in the all-year-long sunny Los Angeles. (You can see from my posts that I wear a lot of hats to protect my skin from the sun, too, but every good tool helps!) As many other beauty products, you can’t expect miracles overnight. I like that the product comes with Vitamin C + lha antioxidant complex, and with the $12.79 price tag, it’s really great for a try.

Molton Brown: Body Lotion. I have a sensitive nose, and I always put on lotion after shower and before bed. I am not really picky about the lotion itself, but I am picky about the smell. I even notice smells from many of the body lotions I have tried can affect my sleep — my nose is just too sensitive! I really love this one call “Rosa Absolute.” It’s non-greasy, not too thick, and its very pleasant fragrance makes me really happy after shower, during the night, and when I wake up in the morning.

[column]
Shiseido Future Solution LX: Water Resistant Suncream (SPF 50+): It’s almost the only suncream I put on my face that doesn’t leave a greasy and “white” feeling. This sunscreen feels very smooth and doesn’t smell like “Suncream”!

SK-II Facial Treatment Essence: So almost everybody agrees that the SK-II Facial Treatment Mask is really good! I know a lot of people use it before a big event or after a bad night’s sleep, and it really brightens your face and makes your skin glow. But it’s very pricey, too! I finished my whole pack of masks, but this facial treatment essence lasts pretty long. I keep them inside the refrigerator and use as a toner AM/PM.

[column]
Bareminerals: Transforming Purifying Cleanser: Firstly, it’s not your regular cleanser; it’s an innovative clay-to-cream facial cleanser that combines the benefits of purifying Brazilian Red Clay and mineral-rich Sea Salts with the soft comfort of a cream. Sounds complicated, but it works to gently remove impurities and help detoxify. I love it!

[column-group][column][/column][column]
La Mer: The Brightening Facial Mask : La Mer is one of my favorite skin care brands. These two-step masks are gentle but highly effective. It immediately lifts dullness and diminishes the look of dark spots. I like to use it before going out for an event or red carpet. It’s like having a spa treatment at home without leaving the house.

[/column][column]
NUXE: Lip balm NUXE is a French popular beauty brand. I was told that this lip balm is a staple for many models, make up artist etc., and I think it is definitely worth trying. It’s kind of new in my collection, but so far, so good.

[/column][column]
Label.M : Honey & Oat Hair Mask: I used to go to hair salons for some professional salon hair mask treatment when I was in China. I don’t do it too often any more after I moved to the U.S. But I feel my hair misses those silky mask treatments, and going to the gym and washing my hair almost everyday makes my hair pretty dry. So I had a friend sent me this, and now I use it after the gym. I just take advantage of the steam room inside the gym, wearing this mask on and leaving it on for 10-15 mins. I feel like my hair grows faster and healthier, as you may see!

[/column][column]
Clarisonic: Mia Fit Clarisonic Mia Fit Cleansing System: It cleans my face well and it’s so cute and in pink, and easy to pack for travel. Need I to say more?

The La Mer mast treatment is superb. I love it too. It’s one of the beauty product that I would starve myself a month for. 🙂
Great post in essential skincare. 🙂
