I get all kinds of emails everyday, I feel bad that there is one kind of email that I have never replied to. They are from mostly young girls or young bloggers who ask me how to start to blog like mine or how to “stand out” in the sea of blogs.
I am sorry that I haven’t replied to your email, but today I decided to give it a try. This was actually my experience: before I started my own blog, I was an active member of some styling/fashion communities, and I took picture of myself in my dailywear in front of a mirror and posted them to the community every other day or so. I started my own blog after I gained some followers and had some press/media/brands contact me and wanted to work together with me. At that point, I decided I had something to show that some people liked to see.
So my advice is: before you invest time and money to start your own blog (and it is a lot of time!), let’s find out if “blogging” is really your things, like whether other people like your style? Do you have fun in reading/writing all kinds of internet comments, and even putting up with bullies and rude critics? And even you already have your own blog, you still have to find some big community or platform to “show yourself off.”
I was recently approached by WEAR.jp to check out their new fashion community website and app. It’s a fashion community featuring daily trending looks by brands and fashionistas all over the world. and I was pleasantly impressed; one of the first thoughts that came to my mind was: why not? I will gain some followers from Japan and other countries, and I will gain new inspiration from other couture, too.
On October 31st, one blogger and one lucky reader will be selected to have a look they shared on WEAR featured on a page in NYLON Magazine, so make sure you sign up and start using it! And, of course, I am already in, and check out my profile here. They are also a shop-able website and app, so if you see any of my looks you like, you can just click the item and see where to buy it.
This post is collaboration with WEAR.jp, and all opinions are mine.

These are some great advises Hallie. You’re right about the time invested in blogging. It’s definitely not easy doing it full time but the returns are sweet =)
It’s definitely all about hard work, discipline and patience.
