Happy Weekend, my dear friends!

Normally what do you do during the weekend? There are a couple things our little family normally would do during the weekend: maybe a movie, always grocery shopping and church, and Sunday Brunch.

Sunday brunch during summer in Los Angeles could be a miserable thing during the “hot hours” after Church service, and the truth is we have been trying so many different restaurants for Sunday brunch. It has been hard to find really good ones — they either end up forcing us to wait for a long time to be seated (not a happy time for our 7-year old, after spending almost 2 hours in Sunday school) , or we get annoyed by too-busy service, or dirty chairs, or messy food….and all of “this and that” can cause each family member to become irritable and spoil what we hope will be a happy family Sunday. So, for us, finding a really good place for our after-Church meal means a lot.

I’m happy to report we found a place that seems perfect to us, Baltaire Restaurant in Brentwood. Last Sunday, we were invited to join Baltaire’s Sunday brunch. I normally only would post pictures on my socials, but decided to give Baltaire a special write-up on my blog, because our experience was really awesome.

Normally we don’t go to a “Steakhouse”, because it’s hard to find food to eat for my husband and our son (they are both vegan), but after we looked at their brunch menu and my recent visit, I found out that there is much more than enough to enjoy there for all of us.

Their service is warm and inviting; from the hostess to the waiters, everyone was very friendly and very attentive. The ambiance is tremendous; the open-air outdoor seating is perfect for sunny LA day. The food is really good across the board; from diversity to execution, they pretty much cover all their bases.

I am a huge fan of omelets (egg white) with lots of vegetables, and I like it when the restaurant can customize my omelet with no cheese, but adding lobster (I know, but I can’t resist if it’s available!), which they did for me –so tasty and so good! Bob was having his potato as usual (roasted, and he loved it, too), and Red Bear was having his Mac & Cheese and fries. They both agreed it was delicious. Oh, we also ordered a sort of cinnamon “pull apart” and a pistachio croissant from their bakery, def a must try! And we shared a great fruit plate, with mango (yum!), different berries, and three kinds of melon. Trust me, we ate every bite.

The service is what I really judge for a fine restaurant. We loved our waitress Ashley, she’s so dynamite! Great service to me is when you don’t even notice them and everything is taken care of. It’s like they were invisible and reading our minds, but in a good way. That describes everyone there.

The prices are a little higher than a coffee shop, but not excessive, and we think it was really worth the money by the food’s flavor and quality, the service, the ambiance — the whole experience. My husband Bob and I rarely agree exactly on restaurants — he’s a strict vegan, I’m not, and we were raised in different cultures with different diets. But for Baltaire, we both agree we can give it a 10! We’ll be back often.
