1 Trench Coat, 2 Fall Styles

The trench coat is such a versatile item for Fall. It’s similar to a denim jacket when worn on the casual side, but it also can be styled for a more formal occasion, like a business meeting when pairing it with good fitting trousers, a pencil skirt, or a below the knee dress. Today I am styling a trench coat by Khaite, (old, similar style here). in 2 styles: one for “weekend casual” and another one as a “fashionista.” Both looks are actually my real style in life; which one is your favorite?

Look 1: Weekend or business casual.

I have heard some comments that jeans should never be worn as business casual, but I kind of disagree. I think it really depends on the jeans style; I said, “good-bye,” to ripped jeans a while back, and never think about going back to wear them. I think they don’t really fit my style, and even more of a reason: my husband just hates them . . . ha-ha-hah! So, yes, don’t think I have strong opinions against ripped jeans for other girls, it’s more about personal preference for my own look.

Today I am wearing a pair of cropped jeans by J.Crew, shirt is also from J.Crew. I like this style so much, and I had to get every color of them (see me wearing green stripes here). Bag is from Ferragamo, and shoes are from Zara (I also have them in pink, and they are comfortable to wear, besides the cute bow look.)

Look 2: The trendy “fashionista” look.

I am very into pleated short skirts this season. I think a short skirt together with knee high boots is a good combination. This combo looks good with any outerwear: trench, blazer, long coat, or just a cardigan. You can wear tights if you want, or layered with thin leggings when it’s cold outside. I usually do not wear tights, but that might be because my local weather is almost always warm. Or hot.

Here I am wearing another (same style) shirt from J.Crew, skirt is also from J.Crew, and I also have the color beige (see the look here). Boots are from Zara, from many seasons ago, and I just bought this pair of pointed toe high boots.

See my other favorite trenches of the season.
