How to Look Chic in Small Budget: Plaid Coat + Flare Skirt

HallieDaily Looking Chic in Small Budget in Plaid Coat and Flare Midi Skirt_8Happy Weekend! Everyone!

Today I have to specially thank Janice who told me that I was featured in Singapore WanBao newspaper on Nov. 23; and at the same time, thanks to a Chinese Reader who told me that Chinese YangZi Wanbao also featured my story. Thank you so much to all of you who have been following me and giving me support without asking anything from me. Besides saying “Thank You!” from the bottom of my heart, I am always trying to do my best to answer all your requests.

These days, I have heard some of you say that you like to play dress up, too, but with limited/small budget.  What to shop and how to stay chic with a small budget is a big challenge, but you can do it!  In my outfit today, I tried to bring up some ideas in my mind, and I hope they can give you a little bit of help, inspiration, and encouragement.

1. At the same time checking the new items in your favorite store/website, don’t forget to check on their sale items too.  Most of the time, we can find some incredible deals in the “last piece” rack if that happens to be the right size. And before you place an order online, don’t forget to check on all the coupon code you can find online. Like my today’s Joe Fresh Coat, the original price is 9, but with the sale price PLUS a coupon code, I got it for .  A great price, and it’s a great coat, too — nice and warm for a chilly day like we had today!  We had a winter rainstorm this week, so today we had snow on the mountain-tops around us, and a cold wind blowing down from them.  This coat kept me warm and I love the plaid.

2. If you ever find some brands that carry trendy items good quality and affordable prices, keep them in your shopping radar, check them often and act fast, because the good buys and styles always sell out very fast.  I can remember more than once seeing the last item in my size snatched away from me by someone who was a little quicker than I was!

3. At the same time as you donate your old clothing, keep your eyes hunting for some treasures in the thrift stores, too.  Your oldie might become somebody else’s treasure, and at the same time, somebody else’s oldie might be a new babe for your own wardrobe.

4. Re-organize your wardrobe often, and keep all the basic essentials in the open place where you can’t overlook them, like black blazer / white button down / simple black pumps / leather jacket / black skirt / straight leg jeans, because in the “I have nothing to wear moment”, these essentials can always save the day.

5. Sorry I have to include this reminder, but if you ever want to invest in something for your wardrobe, start with a black bag and a pair of black simple pumps, please.  I guarantee you they will be worn on many occasions, and will go with almost everything else in your wardrobe.

6. Oh Hey! Black Friday and Cyber Monday are coming soon! Let’s do smart shopping! 🙂
