Party Style : Lace Midi Dress & Maxi Coat

My gym’s ladies’ dressing room is an interesting place.  I see things I normally won’t / don’t want to see, and I hear conversation, and I feel I am invisible there — people just talk about the most personal things, and anyone around can hear!  During the Summer vacation season, the women mostly talked about vacation, travel, and weddings.  Right now in the Holiday season, they talk about parties all the time — company holiday party, friend’s birthday, every kind of party.  And I just realized  I do miss that part of socializing in my life, now that I have been a stay-at-home, full-time wife & mom.

I’m not complaining; I like my both life roles now.  But I used to go out a lot when I lived in China and was a single girl working as a Government Foreign Affairs staff. A lot of drinking, dinners, karaoke — I kind of miss those carefree, fun days.  At the same time, now I enjoy staying home, cooking dinner while Red Bear and his dad do the homework, and go to bed early almost every night.  Not so much excitement as in my younger days, but a pretty healthy and happy lifestyle, I think.

“I live a Grandma’s lifestyle now,” is what I tell some of my other younger blogger friends who are single or don’t have kids yet.

I still enjoy parties, just not every night, and I enjoy getting dressed nicely for them.

About Party dressing, what style you are?  Do you normally dress to stand out in the crowd?  Or do you usually prefer to dress more conservatively?

Since I already have my little family, I don’t feel like I want to stand out with too much attention-getting clothes.  My party dressing now is more about details: I don’t want to show too much skin; I want my outfit to look well-styled, but usually with just a little something different or extra that expresses my personality.  In a few words, I like to dress up, but remain myself and classic.

If you are the same type like I just described, may I suggest this party style to you ? — Match a feminine lace midi dress with a military coat, and finish with a pair of “Mary Jane” pumps — they are comfortable compared with a pair of 5 inch heels!  Finally, accessorize to taste.
